イランの核開発を巡り、イスラエルとイランの間の緊張関係がこれまでになく高まっている。
イスラエルの情報機関「モサド」のデービッド・バルネア長官は、「イランのウラン濃縮は平和利用のためだ」という主張に対し、2021年11月2日に次のようにコメントしている。
民生用では60％まで濃縮したウランを必要としないことは明らかです。3つの濃縮施設も必要ありません。核兵器開発の意図がない限り、何千台もの稼働中の遠心分離機も必要ありません。イランは、今後数年間はもちろん、将来にわたっても核兵器を持つことはありません。それが私の約束であり、モサドの約束です。

この発言は、イランに核兵器を持たせないというモサドとイスラエル政府の固い決意を表している。
一方、イランは、「イスラエルを地図上から消し去る」と発言したアフマディネジャド大統領の時代から今日まで変わっていないことが、イラン軍スポークスマンの最近の発言によって明らかになっている。
イラン・イスラム共和国軍のスポークスマン、アボルファズル・シェカルチ准将は、2021年11月28日付けのインタビューで、イスラエルについて次のように語っている。
我々はイスラエルの殲滅から1ミリたりとも引き下がらない。我々は、世界のシオニズムを滅ぼしたいのだ。
