イスラエルのニュースサイト『Breaking Israel News』が、イスラエル南部のエイラート山で金鉱の発掘が行われていることを報道している。しかも、発掘を行っているのは、ユダヤ教の第三神殿の建設を推進する「神殿の丘ヘリテージ財団（Temple Mount Heritage Foundation）」である。
イスラエル南部のエイラート山の地下に、数十億ドル相当の金の原石が眠っていると考えられていることが、『Breaking Israel News』の取材で明らかになった。エルサレムの「神殿の丘ヘリテージ財団」の事務局長であるラビ、イェフダ・グリック（Yehuda Glick）が独占インタビューに応じ、ここ数年封印されていたこのニュースを明らかにした。……グリックは『Breaking Israel News』に対し、エイラート山には数十億ドル相当の金があり、彼とパートナーのイェホシュア・フリードマン（Yehoshua Friedman）は、イスラエル政府から発掘の独占ライセンスを受け取っていると語った。
……現代の聖書探検家たちが数十億の金塊をどうするつもりなのか、という質問に対して、ラビ・グリックは「最終的には、第三神殿の再建に使おうと思っています。金そのものを器や装飾に使ったり、出土した金を売って神殿再建に必要な材料や人員を購入したりします。私たちは、その素晴らしい日を心待ちにしています」と答えている。

A treasure-trove of raw gold worth billions of dollars is believed to be sitting under Mount Eilat in southern Israel, Breaking Israel News has learned. In an exclusive interview, Rabbi Yehuda Glick, the Executive Director of The Temple Mount Heritage Foundation in Jerusalem, revealed the news, which had been kept under wraps for the last several years…Glick told Breaking Israel News that there are billions of dollars worth of gold in Mount Eilat, which he and his partner, Yehoshua Friedman, have received an exclusive license to unearth by the Israeli government.
…When asked what these modern day Biblical explorers plan to do with their billions in gold, Rabbi Glick replied, “Ultimately, we expect to use the gold in the rebuilding of the Third Temple. Whether we use the gold itself for creating vessels and decoration or by selling the findings and using the money to buy the materials and manpower needed to rebuild the Temple, we look forward to that great day!”
この記事は数年前（2015年）に書かれたものだが、今でもエイラート山では金の発掘作業が行われており、実際に金鉱を発見したという最近の記事（2020年）もある。
エイラート市近郊のオフィルの地で、民間の探査会社ミルバツイ・ザハブ社（Mirbatzei Zahav Ltd.）が重要な金鉱を発見し、その土地開発のための投資パートナーを探している。
考古学者たちは、イスラエルの南東部に位置するこの山岳地帯に、ソロモン王の鉱山があったのではないかと推測している。
この地域は、古来より膨大な鉱物資源を有することで知られている。この地域のティムナ渓谷は、考古学的な財宝、豊富な銅の鉱脈、驚くほど多くの金の工芸品が発掘されることで知られている。また、この地域にはかつて1万もの銅山があったという証拠も残っている。
……この地域では、イスラエル政府によって小規模な金探査が行われている。深さ51mと56mの掘削コアのサンプルから、2.5g/t Au～最大約9g/t Auという驚くべき含有量の金が検出された。2019年1月に、同社はイスラエルのエネルギー省天然資源局から探鉱・採掘許可を取得している。

In the land of Ophir near the city of Eilat, private exploration company Mirbatzei Zahav Ltd. has made a significant gold discovery and is looking for investment partners to develop its property.
Archeologists speculate that King’s Solaman’s Mines might also be located at this mountainous region in southeast Israel.
Since ancient times, the area has been known for its vast mineral wealth. The region’s Timna Valley is known for its archaeological treasures, rich copper deposits and a surprising number of golden artifacts. There’s also evidence that there were once 10,000 copper mines in the area…
Minor gold explorations were conducted by the State of Israel in the area. Drill core samples to a depth of 51 and 56 meters revealed some surprising significant gold values from 2.5 g/t Au and up to about 9 g/t Au. In January 2019, an exploration and mining permit was obtained by the company from The Israeli Ministry of Energy’s Natural Resources Administration.
第三神殿の建設とイスラエルが保有する金は、どちらも終末預言と関係している。
聖書の終末預言では、患難期にはエルサレムに神殿が建っていることが預言されている（2テサロニケ2：3～4、黙示録11：1～2など）。つまり、聖書は将来、エルサレムにユダヤ神殿が再建されることを預言している。
また、エゼキエル38～39章では、ロシアを中心とする諸国がイスラエルを侵略するエゼキエル戦争（ゴグとマゴグの戦い）が起きることが預言されている。この中で、エゼキエル38：13では次のように言われている。
13 シェバやデダンやタルシシュの商人たち、およびそのすべての若い獅子たちは、おまえに言うだろう。「おまえは分捕るために来たのか。獲物をかすめ奪うために隊を構えたのか。銀や金を運び去り、家畜や財産を取り、大いに略奪しようとするつもりか」と。
ここで言われている「おまえ」とは、マゴグの首長ゴグ（ロシアの君主）のことである。この箇所によると、ゴグは略奪のためにイスラエルを侵略し、その略奪の対象に「銀や金」が含まれている。この記述は、イスラエルで金脈が発見されたという現在の状況と無関係とは思えない。しかも、現在ロシアは、自国通貨ルーブルの下落を防ぐために、ルーブルと金の交換を保証する「金本位制」を採用し、大量の金を必要としている。
現在の国際情勢は、エゼキエルが預言した状況に確実に近付いているように見える。
